The Department  of Vocal was opened by one of the last, only in 1991, which is objectively associated with the lack of qualified personnel with higher special education in the whole republic.

The initiator of its appearance was a young specialist Nikolai Yelemesovich Taubekov, who was later awarded the medal of Y.  Altynsarin.

Due to his perseverance, energy, dedication and with the support of both the school administration and colleagues – L.A. Soldatova, V.P. Borisov – the first enrollment of students was made.

In the future, the teaching staff was joined by the Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan and honorary citizen of Aktobe M.O. Aitimov, the winner of the Medals named after Y. Altynsarin and “For Labor Distinction”.

In the period from 2000-2007, the number of teachers of the department included K.K. Bekzhanova and M.K. Bekzhanov graduates of Kazakh National Conservatory named after Kurmangazy.

Later, graduates who graduated from higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan and Russia began to return to college – already as teachers of academic singing. They are G.B. Tulegenova, Z.A. Tulemisova, N.O. Omarov, B.V. Kalmykov, Master G.S. Zhumabayeva, awarded with the badge “Excellence in Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, Zh.M. Nurkasymova, D.N. Taubekova, A.T. Tulepbergenov.

In 1997, with the assistance of the director of the college, V.N. Fomenko, the Department  of Vocal included in its structure the specialization “Singing with dombra”, the founder of which was S.K. Myrzabayeva. Her first students were B. Zhaskelenova, N. Abdibekov, L. Kalzhanova, Zh. Sarina, A. Mynbayeva. Zh.Utegenov became a singer of both folk and pop music.

In connection with the increase in the number of students, one of the first students of G. Kurmangaliev, Kh.S. Utegaliev was invited to work at the college. During his teaching career (2004-2006), he trained a number of talented graduates.

Later, G.A. Sarkytbaeva, Zh.U. Zholbaeva and the laureate of the republican and international competitions, “Honorary Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan” G.Zh.Amanbaeva joined the teachers of folk singing of our educational institution. The winners of the republican and international competitions Zh.A.Kassymov, D.G.Kabylov, N.E. Abilkhasan, Master Zh.K. Orynbekova, holder of the honorary title “Worker of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan” P.K. Kaluova brought a fresh stream to the teaching staff of the department.

For abot 20 years, the department was headed by N.E. Taubekov, then – Z.A. Tulemisova, G.B. Tulegenova, G.Zh. Amanbayeva, N.O. Omarov. Currently, the position of the head of the department is occupied by Zh.K. Orynbekova.

Teachers of academic singing, who have graduated about 250 students over the years, have every reason to be proud of many of them. Of course, this is primarily a student of M.O. Aitimov, Dimash Kudaibergen, the owner of a unique voice that has millions of fans around the world. The soloists of the leading opera houses of Kazakhstan V. Alpysbaeva, E. Rzin (State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after Abai)   and G. Tulegenov (Shymkent Opera and Ballet Theater). The Kazakh pop star E. Esmakhan also has his fans. The soloist of the song and dance ensemble of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan is K. Iglikov. G. Zhaksylykova, A. Amanzholova, G. Salamas became soloists of the State Academic Philharmonic of the Akimat of Nur-Sultan, and Zh.Sandybayeva is a soloist of the State organization “Kazakh Concert”. K. Zhumagaliyeva sings in the State Choir Chapel named after B. Baykadamov in Almaty.  G. Aldadosova – master’s student of Kazakh National University of Arts.

The senior lecturer of the National Academy of Arts named after T. Zhurgenov M. Bekzhanov is engaged in pedagogical work, and G. Alzhanova directs the department in the State Institution “Complex” Music College – Music Boarding School for gifted сhildren ” in Pavlodar.

Every year, the students of the department become laureates of a large number of various competitions and festivals, so it is almost impossible to even list all the laureates. Let’s just only note that four of them – G. Salamas, G. Aldadosova, D. Taubekova, I. Amin – won gold medals at the National Delphic Games.     

The teachers of folk singing have also achieved significant success. The soloists M. U. Mukanova and D. M. Shynarbayeva of Aktobe Philharmonic named after G. Zhubanova perform at concert venues of the city and the region, laureate of national and international competitions N. Meirkhan works in the State Academic Philharmonic of the Akimat of Nur-Sultan.

Some graduates chose the teaching, successfully teaching at children’s music schools in the city and region. Traditional singing is taught by the teachers of Kazakh National Conservatory named after Kurmangazy V. Karzhaubaev and Almaty Music College named after P.I. Chaikovsky U. Sattarov.

Today, the Department  of Vocal is among the most prestigious in the college, having every year the largest number of applicants who are eager to master the most complex, but such a beautiful and delicate instrument, inseparable from the performer himself — their own voice.
